About

Ever wondered what the world is talking about?

Grapevine is an online system, developed as part of a research project at the University of Toronto, that distills information from millions of blogs, tweets, news, etc daily.

It automatically identifies stories, emerging events of interest, popular or surprising entities, narrowed down to any demographic of interest (e.g., "What are male teens talking about in Toronto?").

Subsequently the evolution of a story can be tracked over time.

Grapevine is powered by BlogScope, an analysis and visualization tool for the blogosphere, and utilizes data from Freebase and Wikipedia.
